CC Reunion

Last night, I met some lovely ladies at Mello Mushroom for a graduate school reunion. It has only been a month since graduation, but after spending many a weekend the past year with these girls a reunion was in order. What a wonderful time we had!
Baby Colin even joined us! We watched him grow while Kathryn was pregnant with him and we finally got to meet him! He is so precious!

Ar'Reshi is a natural!
So sweet!

Happy 4th of July!

Sweet Savannah, The Rest of the Weekend

I am sorry for the large paragraph....Blogger wasn't cooperating with my spacing today! Arrr...

Saturday we woke up ready to go and shop! Well at least I did...Our hotel was in a great location and we were able to walk most everywhere. We walked and shopped our way through Savannah...what cute shops they have there! I wish I had an unlimited budget because I could have bought quite a few things, but I resisted!

What a cute sign...

Paula and Company :) We didn't eat here, but did eat at her brother's restaurant, Uncle Bubba's Oyster House.Jacqueline :)Amy really wanted to be a ship Captain at Uncle Bubba's.
Great food and it's right on the marsh...beautiful view. It is a little way out of town, but worth the short drive.
After lunch we drove out to Tybee Island because we thought it was going to be a quite, quaint, little island that we had seen in Southern Living....wrong! To our surprise very commercialized with big hotels and resorts. We described it as the Myrtle Beach of Georgia....I think I might have turned into a beach snob after going to Fripp and the other quite SC sea islands for so long. Needless to say we turned around and made our way back to the hotel just in time before a afternoon thunderstorm rolled in, which was accompanied bt a nice cool nap for the 4 of us.
Saturday night, we ate dinner at a cute place called Sapphire Grill ( Oops! I forgot to take a picture) and we were all still full from lunch, so we got appetizers. I got crab cakes and a Caesar's salad....the perfect amount of food and very yummy. A trolley ghost tour followed dinner, it was interesting to hear about all the stories from the old buildings in Savannah. I learned that if you live in a house that is haunted it is actually worth more. (There is your fun fact for the day.) After the ghost tour we headed to find a place to hang out for the evening. The restaurant/bar of the Bohemian Hotel ( i think) is where we ended up and I enjoyed this Savannah Sweet Tea...very good!
And we ran into a sorority sister at her Bachelorette weekend. What a small world! See you in July Ashley! The girls :)
Much later in the evening...
Sunday morning we woke up, packed up, checked out, and headed to brunch at this cute joint...
And said goodbye :(What a wonderful weekend with 4 of my favorite ladies! We ate well, laughed a lot, and had a good time catching up. Love y'all! Let's not wait this long to do it again!

Sweet Savannah, Day 1

Our girl's weekend finally got here!

Due to the amount of pictures I took and the not so fast blogger upload, I'm breaking up our trip into two (maybe three) post.
Last Friday some of my old college roommates met up in Savannah for a fabulous girl's getaway. Amy and I met Jacqueline and Kate in Savannah Friday afternoon. The afternoon thunderstorm was a perfect time for us to catch up at the hotel before heading out to dinner. Kate choose dinner on Friday night at a cute little restaurant called Local 11 ten.
After a wonderful meal and some cocktails we headed to kill some time by walking around Forsyth Park. It was so pretty with all the spanish moss hanging down and all the beautiful houses surrounding the park. We even found some real estate we would love to purchase... :)
During our exploring we found a hotel/restaurant that looked like a nice place to stop and have a drink due to the heat of the night. We ventured upstairs and found the cute bar/lounge to have a drink before heading to see Sex in the City 2.
Now, I knew going in Sex in the City 2 would not be as good as the first one, however I was still a little disappointed. It had a cute point to the story...empowering women...but it was very anticlimactic. I enjoyed it because I love the ladies and the show, but if you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend you wait until it comes out on DVD.
We crashed that night and got ready for Saturday full of shopping and more eating!

Turtle Tracks

While enjoying some wonderful time at the beach last week we woke up to turtle tracks. I'm glad Mrs. Lisa woke us up even if it was 7:30 in the morning. It is mine and my moms dream to see the turtle lay the nest and then watch the nest hatch and run to the ocean later in the summer.

Unfortuantly the turtle got confused and figured out there was not enough dry fluffy white sand to lay her eggs. I found a nest marked on the same down a few houses down, so hopefully she made her way down there.

Turtles are one of my most favorite things about summer!

10 Year High School Reunion

I can't believe my high school 10 year reunion is this summer....where has the time gone? Believe me, I wouldn't EVER go back (I like myself much more now), but this getting older thing is becoming more of a reality each year I approach closer to 30.

I can't decide if I should go or not....I have until July 24th to decide. What do you think?

I Heart Summer Break!

As much as I love my job, I also love the perk of having summer break. After 10 months of hard work with the kiddos, I get to recoup and relax for a few months. This will be the first summer I have not worked or gone to school and I fully intend on relaxing.

I was lucky enough to start my break with a weekend trip to the beach. Josh's parents invited us down to their family beach house in Holden Beach, North Carolina. I have never been to any North Carolina beaches, but I can make myself at home anywhere their is sand, sun, and ocean. Their house was adorable and we had a great time. I even remembered to wear sunscreen so I didn't get all burned up. I didn't want a repeat of Spring Break. I quickly learned my lesson this spring. Saturday night we at the Provision Company and had a yummy shrimp burger. Very good! This weekend trip was the perfect way to start the summer! Sadly, we headed back to Lexington Sunday evening, but we will be returning in July...yah!!

They had the widest and some of the prettiest dunes I have ever seen.

While at the beach I finished my first book of the summer, Hope in a Jar. I only tend to read Chick Lit and this fit right into that genre. I was cute, a little predictable, but I enjoyed it. Brief synopsis: Two friends, Allie and Olivia, are best friends all through middle and high school. Olivia divulges a secret their senior year and its spread around school by the next day. Olivia blames Allie and moves away. They don't speak to each other until their 20 year high school reunion and the adventure begins. Noah, the other good friend, also plays an important role in the story. If your into Chick Lit, I would definitely recommend it.

Anyone have any other good reads in this genre?

I also started my summer break with a new workout routine. In a previous post, you saw where I joined The Firm. I went this morning for the first time and really thought I was going to vomit everywhere 2o minutes in. I mean I knew I was out of shape, but I must have been in total denial on exactly how out of shape I am. I should have known I was in trouble when the instructor said in the beginning that today had a lot of cardio in it. I have never been so happy as when the instructor said it was time to get on the floor to do ab work. Who would have thought I would be looking forward to ab work. I will have to say that afterwards I did feel good, sore, but good, and energized to start my day. Hopefully, I will start seeing some results and keep this up.

Happy Summer!
