The.Perfect.Weekend

WOW! My life has been a whirlwind of wonderful things the past week! Last Friday, I got ENGAGED! Yes, my friends, I have finally found "the one." So you're thinking, how did he do it?

The Story
Prior to Friday night, Josh ask my parents to dinner and asked for their blessing. And to make it even sweeter, he called my brother in New Orleans and asked him also. Looking back, he was gone a lot last week and said he had to run some errands. I guess I was so swamped with work that I didn't notice.

Earlier last week when we were figuring out plans for our weekend in Clemson Josh mentioned something about how nice he had heard our campus was (duh...it's the best right?) and wanted to walk around and see if Friday when we got up there. I thought that was a little odd, but of course I agreed, so he said he was going to get off work early so we could still have some daylight.

In the meantime, I was trying to make plans to stay with The Zelmer's and she said she had to work at her school's Fall Festival so maybe we should kill some time by walking around campus. Okay...I thought something was up. Come to find out, she had no idea...just all a coincidence.

We didn't end up leaving Columbia until about 4:30 putting us in Clemson about 7 after all the traffic. Seeing as it is getting dark earlier, there was no sun left, but Josh insisted on still taking a tour of campus. Honestly, I had a feeling of what was about to happen. We parked in Sikes and started walking up towards Tillman Hall as I was pointing out all the sites. We didn't get very far (to Bracket for all my Clemson people) and he started lagging behind. I turned around to tell him to come on because I was cold and hungry, and he was on one knee. (More specifically it was in the walkway by the light post in the walkway by Bracket as you are walking towards Tillman.) He said "Will you marry me?" I said "Yes!" and we were engaged!

Afterwards he said he knew how special Clemson was to me and wanted to add to the reasons why it was so special. He added that there was now a reason it was special to both of us :)

*************************************************

This was a extra special football weekend because all my old roommates were coming in for the Georgia Tech game. Josh knew that and I thought it was very sweet he let me share our good news with everyone in person. We had a tailgate extravaganza and my wonderful friends even remembered my birthday. We celebrated with what could have possibly been the largest cookie cake I have ever seen. We went to the game and Clemson won! We joked that is Clemson would have lost, would that have been bad luck for us. It was a perfect ending to a perfect weekend!

We are working on a date...it has seemed to more difficult than I would have first imagined. I'm at the beach right now, and it was taking forever to post pictures, so I will post more when I return to Columbia. We are enjoying a well needed long weekend to relax and take in what all has happened in the last week. Hopefully we will come back with a wedding date :)

Happy Weekend!

WOOHOO!

We FINALLY got a win! It has been a while since I have said the word "win" and "Clemson" in the same sentence.

And can I tell you how much I like C.J. Spiller....he puts a smile on my face. I believe he said in an interview during the game, "always a tiger."

I second that C.J.!

Fun at the Fair

The South Carolina State Fair....if you're from Columbia you know the jingle from way back when...right?

The fair opened on Wednesday and one of my favorite artist was the opening night concert, so you know I was there. We went early to eat a little fair food, which by the way is more expensive than I remember it. Luckily it was $1 entry day. After a fabulous corn dog and a little bit of a funnel cake we went to concert. It was a well needed fun and relaxing night. Corey Smith's songs take me back to my college days....oh how much fun those times were!

I've decided I just need to take a class on how to work my new camera...too many options to choose from. We were much closer than the pictures make it appear. These pictures took a lot of effort to get.
So I got excited about the sign, but Josh didn't....evidently he has seen it at the fair before. Not spelled the same, but could there be corn dog/hot dog stand in my future?

This picture makes me laugh...

So good, but so bad...

Oh, and hoping my Tigers can finally pull out a win tomorrow...I don't like seasons like this :( They make me a not so happy Clemson girl.
