Classroom Craftiness

A few weeks ago I got the idea to make a fabric wreath for my new classroom. I think subconsciously this was an attempt to feel productive since I'm waiting for the go ahead to start moving boxes in. I had an idea of how to make it, but just to make sure I found these directions on the web and went to town. First step...a trip to Hobby Lobby to gather supplies. I think this was the first time I realized they carry just about everything a crafty person would need. The fabric I choose. My stayed with my new school's color scheme.
Then I cut it into strips per the directions.

The hanger...the most difficult part...a pair of pliers would have made it much easier.

I started tying and I soon had a complete wreath.

Just a closer view :)

I bought some small wooden letters and painted them.

To attach the letters I pulled out the handy hot glue gun. I glued a few extra strips I had to the back of each letter.

Then just tied them on to the hanger. The finished product! I love it! And that is saying a lot because many of my DYI projects don't come out to my liking. Although this one is pretty screw-up proof.

I can't wait to hang it on my door at school!

Sun, Sand, and Surf

Note: I'm sorry for the horrible spacing. I tried to fix it, but blogger won't fix it. Anyone know how to solve that problem?

Last weekend, we went to the beach for one last time before school starts back. It was a very nice trip to try to get my brain relaxed before it goes into full blown school mode. A little sand, ocean breeze, and sun didn't make it that hard.

The Pipi House
I don't think he was amused at all my picture taking...

Josh napping? Never!
He LOVES to nap and can do it better than anyone I know.

Toes in the sand one last time.

The beach all to myself :)

Byeeee Beach! It's been a good one!

The Beauty of Being a Man

I couldn't help but notice the difference in toiletries while packing up for the beach this afternoon. I know I'm a bit high maintenance in this area, but when I saw Josh's quart size Ziplock bag compared to my bag, I had to giggle.

I don't think I could EVER travel with just a Ziplock bag.

Keeping It Organized

It's that time of year again...time to get myself organized. I have used the same planner from Target for years now, but I wanted to go with a new planner this year. So the search began. It has to have a few requirements.

1. A monthly view with large enough blocks to write more than one thing in. My handwriting is not the smallest, so this is a must.

2. A weekly view with space to write weekly reminders and events on.

3. It must be cute! I mean really, if I'm going to use it everyday, I must like looking at it.

I started looking and am thinking about this one by Lilly. Has anyone used this one before?
But, then I found Erin Condren's Life Planner from blog I follow and it looks fabulous too. Except the price is a little steep...go figure, I would find one I would have to splurge on. Oh, what to do. I am beyond ready to buy some new pens and begin writing all the upcoming dates in. I need to decide ASAP.

This weekend we made a day trip to Charleston to a good family friends wedding. It was gorgeous with a beautiful bride and groom. It was nice to get all dressed up....and yes, I rocked the heel.

Blog Fun

I came across this blog and literally just spent a good part of the last hour pursuing it (maybe I was bored, but I'm pretty sure I was wishing I was as creative as her)....thought I would share.

Heels or No Heels?

I have a wedding to attend this weekend so I have pulled a "little black dress" out of what I call the wedding collection and now have to decide on what shoes to wear. I have LOTS of cute shoes, but would also love to wear a heel. And let's face the facts, a heel instantly makes your leg look better. Your thinking just wear one, what's the big deal. Well, I haven't worn a heel, expect for work, in about a year and half. That happens to be the exact amount of time Josh and I have been together. Josh is only about an inch taller than me and I have this thing about being taller than him. He's said that he's okay with it, but I'm still a wee bit, well a lot, self conscience about it. I pulled out my lowest heels that I have to help me try to decide....my others I would love to wear are just way too high...I would be an amazon woman next to him. So, do I wear a heel and not worry about it, or just wear my flats?

Blessings

I'm loving this song right now...that is if I can get through it without crying.

This Makes Me A Happy Girl

And that's exactly what I did.

I spent another couple of days at the beach last week with some very fun people. Josh couldn't go due to work, so I called my dear friend and MOH, Lorrie and her sweet family to see if they wanted go. She said of course, so off to Holden Beach we went.

I went down on the 4th to get an extra day in the sun...and was surprised that night by some fireworks. I was by myself that night as The Zelmer's weren't coming until Tuesday....my conclusion...watching 4th of July Fireworks is not that fun when you are all alone.

But I soon had someone to share the fun with.....take a look at sweet Parker ready to play on the beach.

Unfortuantly, I did not take a picture of me and Lorrie, but she did, so I will just have to wait to see hers. I know, I'm a slacker. We had a fun week of relaxing, catching up, reading, playing in the ocean, and picking out beach houses to purchase. A girl can dream right?

Speaking of beach houses, we were thinking of names we would pick if we owned our own beach house. There are so many creative names...one of my favorites at Holden, "Bought It Anyway." And of course, "The Pipi House" which is Josh's family's house. What would you name your beach house?

I don't nearly see the Zelmer's enough (outside of football season), and it was absolutely wonderful getting to visit!

And, there's one more beach weekend in my future before school starts back. Yipee!
