National Lampoon's Thanksgiving Vacation Part 1

Yesterday we began our own version of Thanksgiving Fun. We began the long 9 hour trip to Destin to visit Brooks for Thanksgiving. I knew it would be a long trip, but had no idea how long it was. I think I'm getting too old to sit in a car that long and we were doing anything to keep us amused by the end of the trip. Anywho, on the way I convinced my Dad to stop off so I could see Auburn's campus since we were passing right through. Honestly, I just needed a change of scenary after about 5 hours of interstate. I loved the campus! It was so pretty and it was crazy how much it was like Clemson....kinda felt like home.

A bit crooked, but pretty good for out the window one handed.

I couldn't believe they were already tailgating for the Alabama/Auburn game.

I had never been to Alabama and what a view I got. We went through many a small town. Once we got there we settled into Brooks' small apartment (lots of quality family time to come) and headed to the beach. We caught it just in time for a beautiful sunset.

Happy Thanksgiving!

WHAT A GAME!

My beloved Clemson Tigers nearly gave me a heart attack last week, but in true Tiger fashion they made the game very eventful and WON to clinch the ACC Atlantic Champions Title! Woohoo!

Leave it to Clemson to win on a last second field goal...

But I got to see these lovely ladies! We missed you Jacqueline!

And let the celebration begin!

There are no words to express my happiness at this moment...

Looking forward to Charlotte on Dec. 3rd! It's going to be a tough game, where we will need to play our best, but I'm hoping I will be celebrating again and reporting that we are ACC Champions....

Lawn and Garden Shower

A few weekends ago we had some sweet friends and family give us a wonderful lawn and garden shower. It was perfect! The food was delicious, the company was fun, and the decor was too cute!

It's still a little weird seeing our new monogram, but exciting also!

Amy made the trip!

Our wonderful hostesses!

Sadly, I didn't take many pictures. I'm finding it's hard to take as many pictures as I would like when the party is for us. Regardless, we had a fabulous night! Thanks Brad, Madison, Seth, and Heather for thinking of us!

Fall Treat

With a little inspiration from Pinterest, I made a little treat for my parent volunteers and third grade team a few weeks ago.

I did sneak a taste, and it was quite yummy!

A bad case of the Mondays...

Normally I don't mind Mondays, in fact I normally feel very productive on Mondays. It's a time to start fresh, have a plan or list that hasn't been altered yet, and feel rejuvenated. Well, today that was just not the case.

I didn't sleep well because I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible sore throat. It seriously felt like a ping pong ball was stuck in there. Then, I somehow managed to forget to wash my hair in the shower and didn't notice until after I dried it. But I knew I had to make the best of it because 22 smiling faces were going to be in my care very soon. So, I put on a positive attitude, rockin' the ponytail, and made it to school. I honestly was having an okay day until about 10:30 and then my world around me collapsed. Okay, maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but the day just kept getting worse. It didn't all happen at once. Just little things throughout the day kept happening. And to top it off I spent two hours at the CVS Minute Clinic waiting to see if my self diagnosis of strep throat was correct. Boy do I know my body...it wasn't totally strep, but she got a faint line on the strep test so I think had I waited it would have been full blown strep. Honestly I was kinda glad because after my time there I wanted to make my trip worth the while.

So with some medicine in me and some sleep tonight, I'm hoping my week will improve. Attitude is everything right?

They say its your birthday!

Well friends, I am writing my first post in a new decade of my life-I turned the big 3-0 yesterday. When did this happen? It feels like yesterday I was living it up on the campus of Clemson University.

Thanks to some fabulous family, friends, and students I had a perfect day...well almost perfect. But pretty darn close. Josh had class until 10:00 so I didn't get to celebrate with him last night, but we are celebrating tomorrow instead.

The day started with Josh getting up at "dark-thirty" as he likes to call it and giving me my gift. He did very good and stuck to the list I gave him and I opened this...

LOVE IT!!!
My wonderful day continued at work with a sweet banner my teammates made me. They also treated me with little surprises all throughout the day. Everytime a student came to my door, they had a "little something" with a sweet note. I racked up with some yummy snacks, a koozie with a Diet Coke (only makes it better), a folder, and some pens...they were too sweet to think of me like that. Some of my students also were very thoughtful and got me a few gifts. To top the day off my Homeroom moms got the kids together for another surprise while I left the room for a few minutes. When I returned they each had a flower, sang happy birthday to me, and all came up individually giving me a flower and told me what they liked about me...too precious! I ended the day after school by getting my "hair did" with some fun fall color.

I had so many sweet facebook messages, text messages, cards and phone calls also. Turning 30 was made a bit easier by all the wonderful people in my life. I'm so thankful for everything and everyone! I believe the 30's are looking good already!

Instant Replay

What a season my Tigers are having! I'm a little nervous to even post about it as anything that might jinks us I try to avoid. I struggled even changing my purse since I have used the same purse all season and we have kept winning. See, told you superstitious. I haven't been great at taking pictures this season, but this is the season in review so far. Please excuse my recycling of orange attire...for some reason, I'm having trouble finding all my orange I wore last season. I hoping we can continue the "Shock the Nation Tour!"

I love October!

I love how the cover of Skirt magazine always captures each month perfectly!

Cherish the last sunny Saturdays to sit on the porch,
the last warm days to throw open the windows,
the last long rays of light.
Soon our lives will move indoors to nest in flannel sheets,
to listen to the wind scour the eaves,
to watch movies in bed.
Soup will simmer on the stove,
lamp will be lit earlier and red wine will breathe quietly on the kitchen counter.
Umbrellas and Boots will be fruitful and multiply by the front door.
Rugs will come out of storage to pamper summer's bare feet.
We'll dream of a fireplace in the bedroom
but settle for candles that smell like evergreens and moss.
Sunday mornings will stretch into the afternoon with coffee and newspapers on the couch
and blend seamlessly into dinner in pajamas.

Welcome Home.

C-L-E-M-S-O-N!

How can I not post about my beloved Tigers after Saturday's win. Four weeks ago I was sitting in very hot weather questioning my decision to get season tickets, but my have the boys surprised me. These are the times I wish I still lived in Clemson....

Always proud to be a Tiger!

Fall Design on a Dime

I'm back! It's amazing what can get done when your team is playing away.

Since Clemson is playing away tonight at Virgina Tech, I decided this was the weekend to decorate for fall. As much as I wanted to venture into a few new ideas I found on pinterest, I knew it was best to make do with what I had. So, for about $25 and some inspiration from pinterest I got my little house spruced up for the season.

Same wreath as the last 2 years, but a little monogram always makes everything perfect.
I know my TV is not straight. I tried fixing it but it was knocking the garland off, so I gave up.
We all know decor is way more important than a straight TV, right?

My grandmother made these years ago. I always enjoy pulling them out and thinking of her.

One side of the table...

And the other.

Now this needs some work...I couldn't get the mums right. A trip to mom's for a pot is in order.

I'm planning on getting a cheap frame and hanging this up.

Happy Fall Y'all!
