Me and My Groom

More wedding posts?  Yes friends!  I was so happy to be getting married at Union United Methodist Church.  This has been my church home for many years and now Josh and I can call it home too.  This was actually the first (and only time since) Josh has been the "big church" since we go to the contemporary service each Sunday that is held in the chapel.  In true Methodist fashion we had a quick cereomony and before I knew it Rev. Phillips was saying " You may kiss the bride."  It was probably a good thing it was quick-later my mom told me I was swaying back and forth the whole time, nerves?  The ceremony decor was very simple, but perfect for our nuptials.  Our photographer did a great job of getting all the shots I asked for.  Our church has a rule that there is no flash photography during the ceremony so she was unable to be in the sanctuary for the ceremony, but she was so creative and got some shots through the window in the narthex.  I was so thankful for her problem solving!  She was also quick, quick, quick with all the pictures after.  I think our old age  maturity of the wedding party, and of course Lindsay's great planning, also played a good part as we had all done this a time or two.  We were off the the PARTY before we knew it.

Beach Bound!

Tomorrow we leave for the beach for a little vacay!

My kindle is loaded and I'm ready to have my toes in the sand, hear the waves crashing in the background, and enjoy one of my favorite places.

The Dailey Dish

Hello, I'm Ashlee and I'm a totally nerd.  Yes, I love a good organized notebook...way too much.  I get way too much enjoyment from dividers, sheet protectors, and labels.  However, a notebook must be cute and neat.  There is something that makes it look polished with typed labels...my handwriting is just not a polished.  Anywho, in my spare time this week I decided to tackle a recipe/meal planning binder.  I had thought about it before, but after we were talking to some friends at a party on Saturday about it, I jumped on it.  After all my days are filled with lots extra time and not particular schedule these days.  I went to my local Office Max and purchased the cute paper, clear dividers, and photo pages.  I got the notebook and sheet protectors from Target since these items were a little more than I was willing to spend at Office Max.  After some organizing, this is how it turned out.

I found these on pinterest and printed a few.

After some searching pinterest on some others notebooks, I decided on five main sections for now.  Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Side Dishes, Main Dishes, and Desserts.
I used the photo pages for the recipe cards I already had written.  They fit perfect into a 4x6 section.
Finally, I used the regular page protectors for recipes I had printed out.

The grand total for the project, about $20.  Not to bad.  Cooking is not one of my favorite things to do and I don't enjoy the grocery store, so I'm hoping this notebook will help me enjoy it more...or at least make it managable.  I meal planned for a week or two last fall and it really helped, so I'm hoping to get back on board. It cut out those after work grocery store trips wandering around the store thinking "What are we going to have for dinner?"   My thinking is by having all the recipes in one place with the meal planner that we won't have to have the same ole stuff all the time.  Everything I need will be in one place when I sit down to do the weekly grocery store trip.  Fingers crossed this will work...

4th of July DYI

I was FINALLY successful with a Pinterest inspired DYI!  Woohoo!  This was easy enough for even me not to screw up.  I love the way it turned out and just hope it holds up for a few weeks.

I was inspired by this pin....

I did only use one yard of burlap instead of two since I was just making one and I think I needed some better white paint, because after three or four coats, some of my red still came through.
Happy Birthday America!

The Most Wonderful Day Of My Life

March 10, 2012 was PERFECT!  I couldn't have asked for anything better.  The weather was beautiful and everything went as planned from beginning to end.  Of course we had a a few minor hiccups, but they were so minor that we just forgot about them.  The morning was very low key as I wanted it.  I could have easily been the longest morning of my life.  I woke up at my parent house for the last time as a "Savage" :(  A little sad, but I knew a new journey with a new name was just around the corner. I was real quiet most of the day.  I had a feeling that I can't really explain.  I was excited, nervous, but was doing lots of observing and taking it all in.  Around 11, I met all of my bridesmaids down in the hotel room Josh had gotten, he had left of course, to do hair and have a "Bag Bridal Lunch" prepared by some sweet family friends.  My mom bought the reusable lunch bags with their monogram to serve them in so they could reuse them later. It was so nice to just relax and visit before the big night.  Again, my mom is so creative.  We all left from there to finish getting ready and meet back at the church later in the afternoon. Josh and his gang all met at the church also to visit and get ready for pictures.  While all of this was going on we had some incredible family friends setting up for the reception.  It turned out AMAZING!  A huge thanks to everyone who helped out at 701!Once we all arrived at the church pictures began.  These are all pictures before the ceremony.  We had so many good pictures thanks to Lindsay Alexander!  Here is a peek of some of them.
