To Spray or Not to Spray?

February is about the time I get the urge to start going to the tanning bed. I told myself I was going to start taking better care of my skin, due to a few fine wrinkles that I should not have at my age.

However, I can not stand the paleness of my skin as spring quickly approaches. That raises the question of a spray tan...I have never gotten one, and I have to say I am scared of what it might look like. All I can think of is the Friends episode when Ross went to get one and ended up being one sided...how horrible would that be!

Are there any good ones out there? Any good self tanning lotions anyone would recommend?

The Pretzel

I heart a scarf! I have one in every color and lots of patterns. My friends and coworkers probably get very tired of seeing me wear them, but I think they are the perfect accessory. Especially since I live in South Carolina. With our unpredictable weather, what better way to accessorize an outfit in every season.

I welcome any ideas to organize these babies....this is how they are being stored now.

My mom recently showed me a new way tie my scarf. This may very well have been around for a while, but it was new to me and I was very excited. Oh, the little things that make me happy. It's called the Pretzel. I found this website that shows you how to do it perfectly, along with some other ways to wear this perfect accessory. I'm really liking the twist too...

Happy Accessorizing!

Good News Teacher Friends!

Today as I was shopping, and shouldn't have been, I found another store that gives an educator discount. Now, they could have been doing this for a while, but I had not been in this store for a while, so it is new to me....ready to find out which store?

Old Navy...Yes, I saved $7.oo. I have a love/hate relationship with Old Navy....sometimes they have a lot of good stuff, and sometimes they don't. Today it was a mixture of spring and winter as they were trying to still get rid of winter stuff. I got a few spring things to add to the wardrobe.

Maybe this means the GAP is on their way to a educator discount as well.

So teachers, get shopping!

The Craft Bug

Evidently I got the craft bug as of late...maybe it has been the extra time I have had. I have always been one to buy the already made fabulously cute things that I could actually make, I mean why should I make it if someone already has. However my dear friend Lorrie got me on this project. She is so crafty, so this one is for you girl.
Lorrie showed me a adorable wreath made out of beaded board in a boutique in Clemson and I had to have one, but it didn't quite fit into the budget. So, Lorrie had her uncle cut several wreaths out of beaded board and gave me a blank slate for Christmas...this is where my talent (if you want to call it that) comes in. Using the picture the store posted on the Internet I made my own, and if I do say so myself it looks pretty darn good considering I made it.
Add a bow and there you have it....

I think all my craftiness is gone for a while....maybe summer will bring it back.

Supporting Cancer Research

I'm so proud of my bubster! Last year, my brother decided to start a cancer fundraising campaign prompted by a friend and Tennessee basketball players cancer diagnosis. His cancer was caught early and he went on to not only beat it, but have successful senior year season. The campaign went on to raise a ton of money and they are continuing it again. Check out the link below!

Here's to 2010!

To juicing the good times so your glass is always half full. To more backbone and less bitterness in the bad times. To Wild Nights because you never outgrow your need. To jumping out of a plane or staying put in the moment...whichever is harder. To trying new technology so you won't become a grumpy Luddite. To making something with your hands so you won't become a giant talking head. To taking a chance on something improbable instead of always betting on a sure thing. To trying on a different address. To sometimes being an outsider instead of always in-the-know...how else will you grow? To setting your life on fire or being the match to ignite someone else. To turning regrets into reasons to celebrate. Here's to the Year of You!

I found this in the January edition of Skirt, and loved it. They always have great little sayings on the front. Happy 2010!

A Monogram Please

It's no secret that I absolutely adore a monogram....and I found these at Handpicked.

They are back ordered, but I placed mine order today...I'm sure they will be worth the wait!

Just In Case I Forgot

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment and as I was updating my information, I came to that fabulous question, Marital Status. Single/Never Married. Single. Married. Divorced. So of course I mark, Single/Never Married grumbling under my breath about this stupid question. Then it was time to talk to the doctor. As we were talking and he was asking me his list of questions, he asked me "Still Single?" Well if you read the sheet, maybe you would see what I marked...anyway, I responded with yes. He continues to ask me, " Why? By Choice?" Well, if I knew why, we wouldn't be having this conversation would we. And no, not by choice. At this point I was just put out.

Fast Forward to today. I was in a graduate class that I am taking through the school district and we were all registering online in the computer lab. I typing in my name, address, phone number, email and there it was again. Marital Status. That flippin' question came up again! I mean really....is it really necessary for the College of Charleston to know my marital status for a graduate class? Again, I chose Single/Never Married. I was grumbling today too....a little louder.

I am in my no means in any hurry to get married. And heck I've waited this long so I am not going to settle, but do I need to be reminded twice in one week of my relationship status. I don't think so. As a late twenty something (quickly approaching the next big number that we are not talking about) my choices are seeming to become very limited. Maybe 2010 holds good things for my future, but in the meantiime, I don't need any more reminders.

The Year of the Tiger

According to the Chinese New Year, 2010 is the year of the tiger. Could there be any better animal? If I have done my research correctly the Chinese New Year actually begins on February 14th (Valentine's Day...NOT one of my favorite holidays). However, I am thinking that since it is year of the Tiger maybe it could be a sign that 2010 could be better than all the rest....positive thoughts bring positive outcomes, right?

As for resolutions for 2010...I'm still working on them. I want to make them obtainable and ones that I will actually accomplish.

Here's to the year of the tiger....may it be the best one yet!
